Session Guide

Prep Don’ts

Pretty please do not….

(don’t)Spray tan, wear tight socks or hair ties (all of these things cause issues with the skin so it is tough edit out in every.single.photo) Studio flash makes artificial tan very yellow and patchy.

(Don’t) Let the session happen if you get sick, let us know, we will reschedule.

(Don’t) forget to have your partner clean up the lines on their facial hair, have their hair styled to their liking, and bring a clean white or neutral button down shirt and jeans. No bright colored shoes please!

Get ready to have a blast, it is okay if you have no clue what to do with your hands, face, etc. We will give you all the direction, and make it look effortless! We will show you back of camera along the way any you will see- “Wow this is working, I look great!”

CONGRATS ON YOUR PREGNANCY!

LASTLY, PLEASE DON'T STRESS

It’s easier said than done, but do your best to relax and not worry about your session. I will walk you through every pose and position, and also be on hand to be your hype woman for the day :-) . All you have to do is be your natural and your beautiful self!

Prep Dos

We think these are the good tips!

Have clean hair and a clean face if we are doing your hair and makeup! If you are doing your own, please double check how it will look in different lights (specifically the foundation match!)

WHAT SHOULD I BRING TO THE SESSION?

We absolutely love minimalistic maternity portraits. Sometimes a plain black crop top with black pants, a body suit, or jeans is all you need to achieve that sophisticated VOGUE look.

If you choose a studio session- we have a selection of maternity gowns, floaty fabrics, and bodysuits for your photoshoot, but it is always a great idea to bring your favorite dress or outfit along.

Think about styles and outfits you feel great in, bring or lay out 3-5 so we can take a look at them together. Flowy items tend to look boxy, try to choose neutral non-patterned items.

Feel free to set aside props to include, signs/baby shoes, wedding veils, or your favorite mug!

Need ideas for what to bring?

For Casual Shoots- Your partner’s favorite jersey, a button down, flannel, or bra and panty set with a big t-shirt can be super cozy/sexy depending on the vibe you want.

IS IT POSSIBLE FOR MY PARTNER TO BE INCLUDED IN THE SESSION?

Of course! Your partner is welcome to come and be included in your maternity photoshoot.

Feel free to bring a friend along for support if your partner can not join you.

HAIR AND MAKEUP

Ideally, a "soft glam" style of makeup would be best for your pregnancy photoshoot. If you’re not sure how to have your hair done, think about what you want your photos to look like. If you’re going for a more casual look, a loose and simple hairstyle may be the perfect option. But if you want your images to look a little more formal, don’t be afraid to go for an elegant look.

NAILS

I suggest you go for a neutral/natural color of nail polish as we don't want the color of your nails clashing with any of your outfits. Avoid very long nails or dark colours.

PREPARATION ON THE DAY OF YOUR PHOTOSHOOT SESSION

On the day of your session, it is very important that you stay hydrated and don't skip any meals. Staying hydrated and eating will help keep your energy up throughout your maternity photoshoot session.
